Saturday Night Photography in Georgetown with Marie Joabar

Saturday, November 7 | 4:45 pm – 7:00 pm | Georgetown, DC

Off-site Event Description

Capture incredible nighttime images of DC’s most exciting area, Georgetown! Join instructor Marie Joabar for this unique nighttime photo shoot.

Learn how to capture long exposures, tips for framing exciting compositions and colorful night scenes as we explore Georgetown.

Capture compelling images of the Kennedy Center and Key Bridge complete with reflections in river. The historic streets and storefronts are illuminated in the soft glow of old-fashioned street lamps and provide unique photo ops. Along the vibrant area of M St and Wisconsin Ave, we’ll capture colorful neon signs and also shoot long exposures of traffic passing by for exciting images of streaking car taillights.

Recommended Gear: Any camera with manual exposure modes and lenses in the range from 18-140mm. A sturdy tripod and either remote cord or trigger are a must.

Participants should be familiar with their camera settings and with exposure controls such as ISO, Aperture, and Shutter. We will not be able to introduce you to this material at this class. If not familiar with these topics, consider taking a Photo Basics class first at Capital Photography Center.

Instructor Information

Marie Joabar has been immersed in photography and photography education for more than 25 years. She is passionate about sharing her knowledge of photography, cameras and digital technology with others.

Whether she’s teaching photography, helping one better understand their camera or “see” better compositions, she works to build your confidence and take away the intimidation and sense of overwhelming that often accompanies learning new things.

Marie founded Capital Photography Center in January 2012 to help those with a love of photography grow their skills and reach their goals. To this end, her company offers a wide variety of photography classes taught by professional photographers and photographic educators where amateurs, hobbyists and professionals can learn about the areas of photography suited to their interests and experience level.

In addition to running her business and teaching, Marie finds time to enjoy her own photography and loves country landscapes, dynamic cityscapes, especially at nighttime, and capturing people, both candid and posed. Her travels have given her the opportunity to photograph in Europe and throughout the United States. Her work can be viewed on her website at www.mariejoabar.com
