Presentation Description:

What makes for a better photo, one that draws you into the subject and invites you to look deeper? What elements encourage the viewer to look into the photo and take the time to explore?
It all starts with learning to see. The act of slowing down and imagining the finished photo before you even press the shutter. We’ll consider the size and placement of the subject, using physical paths to guide the viewer in and using subliminal physical hurdles to encourage them to linger and look deeper. We’ll see how the aspect ratio of the final print changes how the viewer enters, and travels through an image, and we’ll do a couple of quick image edits to put these ideas to use.
Together, let’s take a close look at the power of light, color, and most importantly, composition, to create images with impact, beauty, and staying power.
