Les Picker (www.lesterpickerphoto.com) has more than 650 writing and photo credits in National Geographic Society publications, Better Homes & Gardens, Forbes, Time, Inc. Publications, Money Magazine, National Parks Magazine, and dozens of newspapers, magazines and other publications. He is a former photojournalist and editor. For three years Les was a columnist for Oceans Magazine and for four years was Editor-In-Chief for a national environmental journal.
Les has been a weekly columnist for The Baltimore Sun, a freelance feature travel writer/photographer, and a regular commentator on National Public Radio’s Marketplace. He leads photography workshops and tours throughout the world.
Les’ landscape and wildlife images decorate homes, offices and institutions throughout North America. He was selected as the exclusive artist for a major teaching hospital’s medical wing, where more than 60 of his large format images are permanently displayed.
Les was awarded the prestigious Canada Northern Lights Award for Best Travel Photography. He is a Moab Fine Art Paper Master photographer, a Maryland Master Photographer, & the first International Ambassador for Awagami Japanese papers. Les has a doctorate in ecology from the University of Maine.
