2022 Student Competition

Thanks for your entries! The contest was open until June 15, 2022, to any high school or rising 9th-grade student from the following areas:

Washington, DC

Maryland: Frederick, Howard, Montgomery & Prince George’s counties & adjacent Maryland cities & towns 

Virginia: Arlington, Clarke, Fairfax, Fauquier, Loudoun & Prince William counties & adjacent Virginia cities & towns, Charlottesville and Albemarle County.

PRIZES:The Grand Prize is $500. Nine other finalists win $100 each. Each of the ten finalists receives three passes to the online NVPV 2022 Virtual Awards Ceremony to the online MAPV 2022 Awards Ceremony during the MAPV weekend, November 4-6. In the interest of safety during the pandemic, all activities and presentations will be virtual this fall.

Entries were accepted from May 15, 2022 to Jun 15, 2022. Judging takes place during June and winners will be announced by August and posted on this web page.

2021 Student Competition Finalists

Congratulations to students from Chantilly, Oakdale, Middletown, and Winston Churchill high schools who have photos selected as finalists in this year’s Student Competition! And, thanks to their teachers, Betty Simmons, Patricia Stockman, Donna Lehman, and Amy Gilbert for supporting them in their efforts.

Each finalist shown on this page received $100 and the grand prize winner, Ashley Chang from Chantilly High School received $500. Ashley’s image, “Wonders of Books” was selected by our judges to receive the Grand Prize. – Ashley Chang, Chantilly High School. Congratulations to all finalists!

The Student Contest was open to any current high school student (this includes students graduating in 2021 and students rising 9th grade students) from the areas below. Photos of any genre could be submitted.


Mid-Atlantic Photo Visions is organized and sponsored by eight photo clubs in Northern Virginia & Montgomery County, Maryland. Our mission is to promote and advance the appreciation of photography in the Mid-Atlantic Region and elsewhere; to encourage the participation in photography by individuals with all levels of experience and all areas of photographic interest; and to increase the appreciation of photographic art within our community.
